Client Background:
The client, a young family with a contemporary style, wanted a bespoke installation for a family getaway outbuilding. They envisioned a space that was modern, stylish, and functional, where they could relax and spend quality time together. The outbuilding was to be an extension of their home, with seamless indoor-outdoor living and plenty of natural light. The client had a keen interest in environmentally-friendly solutions and wanted the installation to be sustainable and energy-efficient.
Design Concept:
The design concept was centered around creating a modern and functional space that maximized natural light and the connection to the outdoors. The outbuilding was designed to be a multi-functional space, with a lounge area, dining space, and a kitchenette. To achieve the contemporary style, the client chose Visofold 1000 folding doors, which would allow for a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor living. The doors were designed with a Crittal-style to add a touch of sophistication to the overall design.
The Alitherm 600 windows were selected to provide ample natural light and ventilation. These windows are durable, weather-resistant, and have excellent thermal performance, which helps to reduce energy costs. The solar controlled glass roof was designed to provide plenty of natural light while also reducing heat gain during the summer months. The roof also included integrated rain sensors that would automatically close the roof in the event of rain.
